At last the only newly refurbished squash club in Wilsden is open! And already I’m making this up because its only partially open, court 1 (blue) is looking pretty fine with its new front wall, LED lighting, remarked floor and scrubbed walls with its mighty Ambirad heater hanging safely from the new ceiling.
You can book court 1 as usual on the ebooking system. We have introduced some new procedures partially as a result of England Squash guidelines but also taking in the Governments current Covid-19 advice, you need to sanitise your hands on entering the club using the auto dispensers on the walls (they dispense 175ml which is a handful!) or the bottles dotted around the club, please try to adhere to the current social distancing guidelines and bump an elbow rather than hugging someone you haven’t seen in a while.
When playing the light machines now vend 19 minutes per token so that you have time to sanitise the court door and light machine, any touch points that you may have come in contact with entering and leaving the court, paying particular attention to the door handle please. There is anti-bac and paper towels by the court door. England squash recommend that we recommence play in bubbles of 6 players, you can only play another member of your bubble, if you want to leave one bubble and join another you have to cease play for 7 days but there is a poster at the club with full explanation. England Squash also recommend that you wear safety goggles on court, you can buy them from the bar. Please try not to touch the court walls on, the stair walls and corridor, licking anything is not allowed, the water dispenser isn’t connected at the moment so please try to bring your own drinking water. Court 2 is not open, it is very much closed. But Courtcare are returning to take up the new floor and relay a new newer floor starting Monday 14th September, fingers crossed that it will go much much better this time! Currently both changing rooms & showers are closed (you can still use the toilets and sinks) but we are working on opening these this week but with social distancing in place, only 2 persons in the changing room and showers at any one time, more to follow on that later in the week. The bar is now open and as before you can purchase light tokens and drinks including fancy coffee Monday – Thursday from 7pm If you have any questions please just ask, we are all learning about the new normal but at last this now includes chasing a ball around a squash court (or shuttlecock – more to follow!)
