The two combatants were defending champion Leo Maitland and the challenger Lewis Ludkin. The match itself was a nail-biter with Lewis striking the first blow, then being equalled and then overtaken by Leo before he took the fourth to level up. Eventually Lewis won by 2 points in a see-saw fifth set which saw some excellent stroke play and desperation retrieval. It was a game worthy of being a final. I am really proud of the way they played and comported themselves. They are a credit to the club.
